Mena Alexa Suvari was born in 1979. She is an American model, fashion designer and actress. She began her modeling career in 1990 and soon moved to acting after appearances as a guest on TV shows like Boy Meets World or High Incident. Her film debut came in the documentary Nowhere. After her performances of American Beauty (for which she was awarded an award from the BAFTA Award) and American Pie which attracted her more attention, she made the transition to major role. She's appeared alongside the co-star of American Pie Jason Biggs in Loser (2000) before starring as the role of lead for the film Sugar & Spice (2001). Spun is an independent film that aired in 2002, and the action movie Trauma (2004) was the most recent of her appearances. In 2004, she starred in the HBO drama Six Feet Under. She received nominations for the Screen Actors Guild Award for 2005, as part of the Outstanding Ensemble. Her filmography for 2008 included Day of the Dead The Mysteries of Pittsburgh as well as the version from The Garden of Eden and several other movies. Suvari has been a model for Lancome Paris Adaptive, and she's been in a variety of blogs and magazines such as Vogue. She has been a supporter and a defender of The African Medical and Research Foundation an eminent charity that offers assistance to the African continent. In addition, she's involved in charitable organizations fighting breast cancer and End Violence Against Women.
