Julia Fiona Roberts was born in Atlanta on October 28 1967 in the home of Betty Lou Bredemus and Walter Grady Roberts. She belongs to the Robertses' fourth generation who reside in the Atlanta region, beginning with her great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts a farmer. Her father was a theatre enthusiast at an early stage. He performed on the Emory University campus in 1952 and also in a variety of productions around Atlanta. He joined the military in 1953. While stationed in Biloxi Mississippi was cast in a military production that included Betty Lou Bredemus who was also in the Air force. Eric Anthony was their first born. They got married in the year. Walter went to Tulane University New Orleans Louisiana after leaving the Airforce in the year 1957. Walter was employed by Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio to assist on the stage of the show Bum Bum and His Buddies in Decatur Georgia. Walter along with Betty Lou started production in 1964 on the local children's Saturday morning TV show Bum Bum and His Buddies and their Buddies, which they both funded. They also established the six-year Actors and Writers Workshop later the same year. They had two more children, Lelisa Billingsley (1965) (also called Lisa) and Julia Billingsley (1967) (also known as Julie).
